2006 National Cyber Security Awareness Month

The Third Annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month, was celebrated during October 2006, as a collective effort among the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center(External Link) , the National Cyber Security Division(New Window) and the National Cyber Security Alliance(New Window) to raise cyber security awareness nationwide and empower citizens, businesses, government and schools to improve their cyber security preparedness and help promote a safe Internet experience.

As part of the 2006 National Cyber Security Awareness Campaign, a number of activities were conducted in recognition of Awareness Month, including the following:

  • National Cyber Security Awareness Webcast - Kids Safe Online
    The National Cyber Security Awareness Webcast - Kids Safe Online consists of an interactive play entitled Cyber Citizens of the World Wide Web, geared for 4th and 5th graders. The play is being held on October 4th as recognition of National Cyber Security Awareness Month and will feature interactive skits to help children learn more about cyber security and how to be safe when using computers and the Internet.

  • Governors' Proclamations
    Every governor in the nation is invited to sign a proclamation in recognition of Cyber Security Awareness Month.

  • Cyber Security Toolkit
    A Toolkit was created and distributed to states through the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center. The Toolkit is designed to promote the delivery of a consistent cyber security awareness message by reinforcing core themes in practical, informative, entertaining, and usable ways. We invite you to take advantage of the following resources and encourage you to use the information in your own awareness programs.
