The fifth session in the National Webcast Initiative series took place on March 16, 2005. More than 1,000 individuals representing 7 countries registered for this event. Are You Secure?...Are You Sure? Vulnerability Management was the topic of the webcast with a featured presentation by Jason Chan, Symantec Professional Services, Consulting Services Technical Lead AND Brian Kenyon, Foundstone/McAfee Foundstone Security Evangelist. Opening remarks were provided by Mr. Brent Wrisley, US Cert Analyst, a Division of the US Department of Homeland Security, and Mr. William Pelgrn, Chair of the MS-ISAC.

The March 16th National Webcast Initiative focused on:

  • How to reduce your vulnerability to cyber threats;
  • Identifiying vulnerabilities and using prioritization and environmental change management to reduce risk and ensure compliance on an ongoing basis;
  • And, the Vulnerability Management Lifecycle.

The Department of Homeland Security US-CERT and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) have partnered to establish the National Webcast Initiative to develop a series of national webcasts which will examine critical and timely cyber security issues.  Embracing the concept that security is everyone’s responsibility, these webcasts will be available to a broad audience to help raise awareness and knowledge levels. A number of vendors have offered their services at no cost to government, to help develop and deliver the webcasts.   

The National Webcast Initiative is also coordinated by the New York State Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination(New Window) and the New York State Forum(New Window) .
