The National Webcast Initiative series was held on June 20th with a featured presentation on Security Policy Enforcement – Secure Network Access.  Over 500 individuals representing 2 countries registered for this spectacular event.   Opening remarks were provided by Mr. William Pelgrin, Chair of the MS-ISAC, followed by the webcast presenters, Richard Langston , Senior Product Manager, Symantec, and Andrew J. Berkuta , CISSP, Senior Security Evangelist / Strategist McAfee Corporation.

Securing your network environment against network intruders can be a challenge in today’s cyber security world.  This broadcast focused on the following topics:

  • Discussion on problems with “trolls”, how they exist on our network, the risks and why network access controls are important;
  • Network security policy examples and the pros and cons of network security policy issues;
  • The benefits of Network Access Control (NAC) - securing network access and identifying network roles and responsibilities;
  • Case studies on Endpoint enforcement in the Insurance Industry, Inline enforcement in the Fortune 1000, and 802.1x in the Telecommunications Industry;
  • And, effective solutions that could help you manage the castle easier by allowing you to convert your policies into actionable events!

Webcast Presentation

The Department of Homeland Security’s National Cyber Security Division and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center have partnered to establish the National Webcast Initiative to develop a series of national webcasts which will examine critical and timely cyber security issues. Embracing the concept that security is everyone’s responsibility, these webcasts are available to a broad audience to help raise awareness and knowledge levels. A number of vendors have offered their services at no cost to government, to help develop and deliver the webcasts.

The National Webcast Initiative is also coordinated by the New York State Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination(New Window) and the New York State Forum(New Window) .
